Jean Thompson

Jean Ann Thompson of Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away on August 30 at Avalon Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Lucille and Gurden Thompson. Jean graduated from Mercy College in Detroit, in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Record Library Science. She eventually moved to Warwick and was employed by Rhode Island Hospital in the Records Department until her retirement. Jean and her companion Bill travelled extensively, enjoying approximately 40 cruises and trips. She was always in good spirits; we will miss her. In Warwick she leaves behind William’s daughter, Deb Vano (William Clark), William Underwood, Jr., Patrick and Eric Vano. In Michigan, she leaves behind her cousin, Lauralee Leiter and her husband Tom, their two sons and families, along with several other cousins. She was also preceded in death by her longtime companion, William Underwood, his son, Ladd, and his daughter-in-law, Cindy. A special thanks to the staff at Avalon; they were very good to jean. They were like family to her. Per Jean’s wishes, her funeral will be held in Michigan where she will be returned to be buried alongside her parents.
