Jay Bonke, age 45, of Phoenix, Arizona and formerly of Battle Creek passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2020. Jay was born August 31,1974 in Battle Creek to Sherry (Bonke) Beninghaus and Jim Sheldon.
Jay graduated from Lakeview high school in 1993, Jay received an associate degree in HVAC from Eastern Arizona College. Jay held many different jobs but his entrepreneurial spirit always lead the way. Jay loved woodworking, bowling, helping the less fortunate homeless and veterans and his doggie Coco. Jay loved model railroading and at one time was president of the Battle Creek model railroaders club.
Jay is survived by his parents Ken and Sherry Beninghaus, Jim and Nancy Sheldon. Siblings Tiffiany (Eric) Amaro, Tonya (Tim) Beninghaus-Slack, Ken Beninghaus Jr. Jimmy (Jennifer) Sheldon Jr. All from Battle Creek. Simone (Jason) Buller of Burlington. Andrea (Michael) Hunter of Clarksville Tn. Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, those unable to attend the service can watch it livestreamed on Jay’s obituary page at www.henryfuneralhome.org In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Haven of Rest or the Calhoun County Animal Shelter.
