James Arthur Stevens

James A. Stevens, age 87 of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. He was born on September 24, 1937, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Ray H. and Myrtle N. (Nestell) Stevens. Jim attended Lakeview Schools and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. He went on to graduate from Western Michigan University with a teaching degree then began his career in education at Harper Creek High School. Jim started as a French teacher, later becoming a school counselor and eventually retired from Harper Creek. He also was a volunteer trainer of First Responders for several departments and organizations in the area. Jim was a faithful member of St. Philip Catholic Church. He is survived by his brother Richard G. Stevens and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his sister Marion S. Tumanis and two brothers: Neil C. Stevens and Robert G. Stevens.
