James T. Rounds, age 89, of Battle Creek, died Tuesday February 23, 2016, at The Bronson at Home Hospice Residence. James was born on June 27, 1926, in McDonald, Ohio the son of Joseph and Mary Rounds. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy and went on to graduate from Wayne State College. He then earned a Master Degree in Education from Western Michigan University in 1962. His teaching career began at Oto Public Schools in Iowa before coming to Michigan and teaching at Pennfield Schools. He retired from Harper Creek Community Schools as a music teacher. On May 30, 1953 he was married to Adaline Marie (LaBrune) Rounds in Sioux City, Iowa and she preceded him in death on July 15, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Surviving are his sons: James Rounds of Summerville, SC and Mark Rounds of Battle Creek; three grandchildren: Angela Marie, Joseph Anthony and Alyssa Mae Rounds; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Sunday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with The Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 29, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
