James R. Paulson, Age 87, Of Battle Creek, Formerly of Marshall, Died Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. James was born on July 16, 1925, in Battle Creek. On March 25, 1948, he was united in marriage to the former Dorothy A. “Dottie” Baird who preceded him in death on May 7, 2012. James was employed at A-B Stove, Grand Trunk Western Railroad and apprenticed in the tool and die shop. He bought Boyd Pattern Shop in Marshall in 1958, and later renamed it Paulson Pattern Shop where he retired in the late 80’s. Surviving is a son, Ronald J. Paulson and son-in-law, Ken Ireland of Cape Coral, FL; grandsons, Matthew J. (Sarah) Paulson of Hudsonville and Andrew R. (Sean Dougall) Paulson of Los Angeles, CA; great granddaughters, Madeleine and Lillian and Stella Paulson of Hudsonville; Brothers, Arthur (Shirley) Paulson and Robert (Kathy) Paulson of Battle Creek; sisters, Marjorie (Sam) Gibson, Mary (Dale) Wagner both of Battle Creek, and Madeline (Bernie) Miller of Green Valley, AZ; sister-in-law, Wilma Paulson of Battle Creek; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick “Jack” Paulson and a sister, Pauline (Harry) Scullion. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel.
