James David Mullins

James David Mullins, age 90, of Battle Creek, passed away on November 7, 2023.  He was born on July 14, 1933 in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, the son of Bud and Pearl (Woodson) Mullins.  Jim was a graduate of Rockvale High School in Rockvale, TN.  He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Middle Tennessee State University.  He began his teaching profession in Mesick, Michigan.  He then moved to Battle Creek and taught chemistry, physics, and electronics for many years at Springfield High School.  James was united in marriage on December 23, 1954 to Patricia Wright Mullins, she preceded him in death on April 17, 2018.  Also preceding him in death was a sister, Betty Jones on April 28, 2023.  James was a life-long member of Gideon’s International and volunteered at The Haven of Rest.  He was a long-time member of Lakeview Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church  later in life.  James loved his family and especially his grandchildren.  Earlier in life, he loved to camp and was an avid fisherman.  Surviving are his daughters; Linda (Dan) VanSyckle of Battle Creek, Janice (Stephen) Fedele of Chelsea, Leslie (Michael) Horaney of Grand Rapids, brother-in-law, Donald Wright and sister- in- law, Martha Wright both of Murfreesboro, TN., eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services.  Funeral service scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the funeral home, Dawn Dye of Lakeview Assisted Living officiating.  Private interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to South Michigan Food Bank or The Haven.  Memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
