James Ronald Holloway, Age 84, Of Battle Creek, Died Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at his residence. James was born on December 26, 1926, in Bangor, MI, the son of Harry and Gladys (Hurley) Holloway. He had been an area resident since 1946. He was a graduate of Bangor High School in 1945 and then received a graduate certificate from the Commercial Banking-American Institute of Banking. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII from March of 1945 to December of 1946. On January 10, 1948, he was united in marriage to the former Velma L. Wheaton who survives. James was employed with Michigan National Bank from 1947 until his retirement as Group Vice President in 1985. He was a member of the Maple United Methodist Church and served on the finance committee and was financial secretary, former member of the Lakeview-Urbandale Kiwanis Club for 28 years, former treasurer of the Calhoun County Cancer Society, past president of the Administrative Management Society, member of the Health and Recreation Association, was a volunteer with Leila Hospital Auxiliary, Junior Achievement and was active in Southern Michigan Amateur Radio with call letters KG8GZ. Surviving is a son, Mark J. (Colleen) Holloway of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Trent and Jason Holloway , Allison (Brett) Snauffer; great grandchild, Logan Snauffer;step grandchildren, Chris(Keri) Bryant and Dawn(Michael) Marquardt; step great-grandchildren, Dante and Clarice Bryant, Philip, Katie and Nathan Marquardt; sister, Marlene Sharpsteen of Bangor. He was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Stinson and Jane Williams-Crum. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 7, 2011, at the funeral home with The Rev. Linda D. Stoddard officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
