James Gukis

James M. Gukis, age 68, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, July 6, 2015. He was born August 2, 1946 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Mitchell J. and Anna May (Eager) Gukis. Jim graduated from Pennfield High School in 1965 and began working at Kraft General Foods that summer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from February 8, 1966 to January 28, 1968 and following his honorable discharge returned to his work at Kraft General Foods from which he retired on September 1, 2001. Jim is survived by his sister: Sonya E. (Ron) Young of Battle Creek; nephew: Ron (Michelle) Young, Jr. of Battle Creek, and two great-nieces: Heather and Hannah Young. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors presented by the United States Army.
