Jacoba Gara

Jacoba Gara, age 86 of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013. She was born May 19, 1926 in Vlissingen, The Netherlands the daughter of Hendricus Jacobus and Jacoba (Traas) tenHeggeler. On March 16, 1956 she was married to Stefan Gara in The Netherlands and they moved to Battle Creek later that year. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Battle Creek Dutch Club and Battle Creek Gas Company Retirees Club.  Jacoba was preceded in death by her husband on September 4, 2008, one son Andrew Gara in 1963 and her sister Maatje Smelt. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
