Jack W. Woods, age 84, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013. He was born June 5, 1929 in Lansing, Michigan the son of Jack W. and Gertrude I. (Perry) Woods. Jack lived a short time in Alaska where he graduated from K-HI High School in Ketchikan in 1947. He moved back to the Battle Creek area following graduation and on September 11, 1948 he was married to the former Bernice I. Lennon at St. Phillip Catholic Church. Jack had worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company, American Fire Apparatus, Clark Equipment Company and retired from Grand Trunk Railroad in 1994. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moose Lodge #676 in Marshall, Senior Tour Club and Squarenader Square Dance Club. Jack is survived by his wife: Bernice I. Woods; four children: Jack W. (Diana)Woods, Jr of East Leroy, Sheryl (William) Broderick of Battle Creek, Dianne Potter of Lawton and Kimberly (Rick) Menzies of Fort Smith, AR; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Very Rev. Mark J. Vyverman, V.F. officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Alzheimer’s Association. www.henryfuneralhome.org
