Jack R. Nay, age 94, of Battle Creek, Michigan died Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Woodland Terrace of Paw Paw Lake in Coloma. He was born December 23, 1929, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Raleigh Elwin and Pauline Muriel (Houghtaling) Nay. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Jack was a graduate of Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska and went on to receive a master’s degree in social work from the University of Nebraska. He worked at the Battle Creek V.A. Hospital for nearly 15 years, and retired from V.A. Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee before returning to Battle Creek. On February 17, 1952, he married Geraldine G. (Mayer) in Lincoln, Nebraska. Together they enjoyed traveling, having been to all 50 states, most of those on a motorcycle. Jack was preceded in death by his wife on May 8, 2022, a sister Joan Nay, two brothers James and Joseph Nay, and granddaughter Yvonne (Ahlberg) Elmore. He is survived by two children: John (Judy) Nay and Karen (Denny Olson) Nay; three grandchildren: Janelle Bennett, Jaclyn Nay, and Jordan (Kathleen) Nay; three great-grandchildren: Blaise Elmore, Andrew Bennett, and Audrey Bennett; three former sisters-in-law: Jill Nay, Joan Nay, and Claudia Nay; and multiple nieces and nephews.
