Jack P. Ellman, age 95, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born September 1, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Harry and Tillie (Weissburg) Ellman. Jack served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and earned a bachelor’s Degree in business administration from the University of Michigan following his honorable discharge. On June 14, 1961 he was married to Evelyn M. Bub in Oak Park, Michigan and they moved to the Battle Creek area in 1968. He and his wife established Riverview Kennels in Augusta in 1969, retiring in 1995. They sold the kennels in 1999 and moved to Battle Creek. Jack was a member of the American dog Owner’s Club, Battle Creek Kennel Club and A.D.R.K. (breeding club for Rottweiler dogs in German). He raised and bred Rottweiler's for many years, was a founder of Rottweiler Rescue Club in the 80’s and rescued/found new homes for more than 120 Rottweiler's. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn M. Ellman, two brothers Irving and Seymour Ellman and a niece Maureen Ellman. He is survived by his Rottweiler Lola, six nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and two special friends, Andy and Jim. Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
