J. Allen Harmon II, 54, of Augusta, MI died Sunday, December 20, 2015, surrounded by his family. Allen was born on December 6, 1961, in Battle Creek, the son of Jerry Allen and Mary Jo (Allen) Harmon. He had been a lifelong resident of the area, graduating from Gull Lake High School in 1980. He then earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business, with a major in Insurance, from Ferris State College. On August 4, 1984, he was united in marriage to the former Wanda J. Sullivan, who survives. Allen was employed in the family business, Allen Harmon Insurance, after graduating college. He later became the owner in 2000. Allen was an Eagle Scout, and helped many others achieve this honor as Scout Master of his son’s troop. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, where he served on many committees. He was the former president of the Early Morning Lions Club and S.W. Michigan Polled Hereford Association. Allen served the community as a 4-H Club Leader, on the Arbor Academy Board, and numerous insurance organizations. Surviving are his children, Katelyn Marie (Deyan) Kozhuharov, Jared Allen Harmon, and Callie Anne Harmon; a granddaughter, Liliya Alice Kozhuharov; his parents; a brother, Craig S. (Wendy) Harmon; a sister, Lynn M. (Michelle) Harmon, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2016, from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the First Congregational Church.
