Irma Harding

Irma M. Harding, 96, of Battle Creek died Saturday July 16, 2011 at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born October 11, 1914 in Meinheim, Germany the daughter of Andrew and Louise (Veith) Koerner and came to the U.S. in 1927. She worked at Jolly Kids Togs in Kalamazoo and J.C. Penney’s in both Kalamazoo and Battle Creek while spending winters in Florida. In 1975 she moved to Eustis, Florida where she worked at the Leesburg Shopper until retiring in 1998 at the age of 85. On April 21, 1934 Irma was married to Anton Radi, who died in December of 1948.  Later on February 2, 1957 she married E. Ray Harding and he died on February 17, 1993. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Edwin and Herbert Koerner, and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Koerner. Surviving are three children: Betty (William) Everest of Climax, Dolores (David) Enos of Battle Creek and Anton Radi of Hastings; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and one sister-in-law, Mary Koerner of Battle Creek. Funeral services will be held 1pm Wednesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Jon T. Haug of St. Peter Lutheran Church officiating. Family will receive friends 1 hour before service. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Kalamazoo. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Macular Degeneration Foundation
