Hyram Allen

Hyram B. Allen, age 88, of Battle Creek, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. He was born September 19, 1925 in Salyersville, Kentucky the son of Oliver and Myrtle (Craft) Allen. Mr. Allen moved to Battle Creek in 1944 and went to work at Clark Equipment Company retiring in 1983. On March 13, 1948 he was married to Frances E. (Anderson) in Paintsville, Kentucky who preceded him in death on June 1, 2012. They spent winters in Englewood, Florida where he was a member of the Eagles Lodge and was also a member of the Battle Creek lodge. Hyram was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are his half-sisters: Reva Mae Marshall and Christine Allen both of Salyersville, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, stepmother Haley Arnett Allen, sister Marie Dyer, brother Grover Allen, half-brothers: Hayes, Charles Edward and J.O., and half-sisters: Cherlene Salyers and Louise Dilly. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Townsend of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
