Herbert H. Beaty, 82, of Battle Creek, died Friday, January 6, 2012 at the University of Michigan Hospital. He was born July 12, 1929 in Livingston, Tennessee the son of Ogle and Winnie Beaty where he was raised, and moved to Battle Creek in 1948. Herbert retired from the St. Regis Paper Company in 1993 after 45 years of service, and had also worked at Meyers Toy World for 24 years. He was an active member of Battle Creek Masonic Lodge #12, enjoyed making wooden hobbies and was proud to send them to family and friends across the United States. Herbert was very much loved by his family and always had a smile on his face. On October 11, 1952 he was married to Imogene (Letner) at First Baptist Church in Battle Creek and she preceded him in death on March 11, 2006. Herbert was also preceded in death by one sister: Christine Hinkle and five brothers: Luther, O.T., Benton, Lester and Robert Beaty. Surviving are his son: Tim (Jan) Beaty of North Las Vegas, NV; three daughters: Linda Hall of Washington, DC, Ruby (John) Beckelheimer of Battle Creek and Shirley (Tim) Callahan of Perry, MI; six grandchildren: Tammi Lopez, Todd Hall, Jarrod Beaty, Gareth Beaty, Amy Beckelheimer and Danielle Beckelheimer,; nine great grandchildren; one brother: Willie (Verta) Beaty of Cookeville, TN; six sisters: Grace Morgan of Navarre, FL, Sadie Vaugh, Betty Norris, Flora (Daulis) Walker all of Cookeville, TN, Hazel (Al) Reifert of Sterling Heights, MI, and Louise (Ernest) Matheny of Pendleton, IN; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services to celebrate Herbert’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Kelly Hadlich of Battle Creek Friends Church officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Calhoun County Medical Care Facility.
