Henry Gutman, Jr.

Henry A. Gutman, Jr., age 73, of Battle Creek, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at his home. He was born July 29, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Henry Allen and Hazel Allen (Gorham) Gutman. Hank graduated from Saginaw High School and Ferris State University with honors. He served in the U.S. Navy from August 1963 to July 1970 and sailed on the U.S.S. Benjamin Franklin and U.S.S. John Adams. Following his discharge, he worked at the Kellogg Company for 26 years from which he retired. He was a longtime member of the Battle Creek Sportsman’s Club. On September 16, 1961 he was married to the former Karen M. Hunter in Saginaw, who survives. He is also survived by his loving sons: Henry A. Gutman III and James W. Gutman. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Cary Grant officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
