Helen (Magers)Atchley

Helen  Rose (Magers) Atchley, Age 89, of Battle Creek, Went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2011. Helen was born in New Riegel, Ohio, on November 8, 1922, to Aurelius and Clara (Weinandy) Klein. She was married to James P.  Magers in April 1942 and they moved to Battle Creek in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1975. In November 1980, she was married to James Atchley who survives. She worked as a hostess for several years at both the Lakewood Inn and Buckingham Inn. She was an avid artist and loved painting pictures, especially of historic landmarks in Battle Creek and various scenes from her travels. She is survived by her husband, James Atchley; children, Judy (Joe) Markovich of Battle Creek, Patricia Hill of Erie, PA, James G. Magers of Atlanta, GA, Mary Lynne (Mike) Miles of Tampa, FL, Mike (Debbie) Magers of Battle Creek and John (Ann) Magers of Lewiston, NY; 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; her brother, George Klein of Greenville, SC; stepchildren, Mary Vasquez, Tish Bell, Tom Atchley and Sally Atchley. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Thomas Magers; her sisters, Lucille Lonsway and Evelyn Buzzell; brothers, Paul and Harold Klein. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with a Scriptural Service at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Rev. David C. Grondz officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
