Helen Carbine

Helen Marie (Wright) Carbine went peacefully to be with the Lord October 1, 2021 at Brookdale Battle Creek, Michigan she was 83 years old.  Helen was born to William & Geraldine (Prill) Wright on November 28, 1937.  She was a lifelong resident of the Battle Creek area and graduated from St. Phillip’s Catholic School in 1955.  Later in life she wintered in Lillian, Alabama and Eustis, Florida.

On August 11, 1956, she married the love of her life Jack Carbine.  They were married for 44 years and raised 3 daughters before he passed in 2000.  Helen was a homemaker and worked various places including Union Pump, Bedford Rescue Squad and she retired from Battle Creek Health Systems.  She loved spending time with family, traveling, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking.  She especially loved sewing and used that talent to make clothes for her girls, made costumes for their dance recitals, Delton Kellogg follies and the Leila Follies.

She is survived by her daughters Ann (Mark) Martin of Port Charlotte, FL, Sandy (Wayne) Corrion of Durand, MI, Teri Hanson of Bellevue, MI.  Her sister Shirley (Robert) Galli of Battle Creek, MI, and very special friend and companion Lemoin Shadduck of Portage, MI.  She leaves 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, 5 nieces and many cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents, brother William Wright and son-in-law Daniel Hanson.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  We will celebrate Helen’s life on October 20, 2021 at St. Joseph Church, Battle Creek, MI there will be a visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11:30 a.m.  Committal services will follow at the Fort Custer National Cemetery.   Memorial donations may be made to Kindred Hospice or Johnstown Township Fire Department.
