Helen Arnett

Helen E. Arnett, age 95, of Battle Creek, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 at Bickford Assisted Living. She was born April 26, 1918 in Traverse City, Michigan the daughter of Lyman and Ethel (Beeman) McNeil. When she was a year old the family moved to Otsego, Michigan and she graduated from Otsego High School. After graduation, she worked in the office of Sanitary Milk Products Company. In June of 1938, she married Wayne Arnett of Battle Creek. They were married for 51 years and attended The Church of the Brethren in Battle Creek. Mrs. Arnett was a volunteer for the Battle Creek Health System Auxiliary for many years. Of primary importance to her was her family and friends of whom she loved to entertain. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wayne on October 22, 1989; sister, Marian Kelsey; daughter, Sandra Bassett; son-in-law, Brian Williams; grandson, Wayne White and great-grandson, Derek Arevalo. Mrs. Arnett is survived by her daughter, Nancy Williams of Athens; granddaughter, Denise (Kevin) King of Mendon; grandson Kevin Bassett and niece Colleen Ziemer both of Plainwell; great-grandson Isiah Arevalo of Kalamazoo; and two great-granddaughters: Blaec Arevalo of Kalamazoo and Stevie Bassett of California.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
