Haruyo Gale

January 17, 1933 — December 6, 2017

Haruyo Sue Gale, age 84, of Battle Creek passed away on December 6, 2017 at her residence.  She was born on January 17, 1933 in Yokohama, Japan, the daughter of Tokiharu and Nobu (Morita) Nakamura.  Haruyo was a 1957 graduate of the American High School in Yokohama, Japan.  She was employed by WK Kellogg Junior High in food service, and at the Battle Creek Public Schools Food Commissary.  Haruyo was a member of the American Legion Post #298, Japan Club of Battle Creek, Burnham Brook Center, Moose Lodge of Marshall, and was an active member at Trinity United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed playing Bunko, dancing; including belly dancing, listening to various artists of big band music, traveling, and especially taking care of her family.  Haruyo was preceded in death by her husband; Thomas Gale, an infant son, brother; Tokiharu Nakamura, and special friend; Leo Kuliczkowski.  Surviving are her daughters; Beverly Gale of Battle Creek, Bobbi (Eric) Miller of Wyoming, Michigan, son; Micheal Caraway Jr. of Ann Arbor, sister; Harumi Okamura of Japan, brother; Nobuyoski Nakamura of Japan, nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.  Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services.  Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce Kintigh officiating, interment to follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
