Harry E. “Pete” Misner, 93, of East Leroy passed away Tuesday September 11, 2012 at his home. He was born on December 26, 1918 in Battle Creek to Harry E. and Cora B. (DePeel) Misner. Pete graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific and European Theaters. Pete married Dorothy F. Spiller on October 2, 1943 in Waco, TX. He was the co-owner and operator of Misner Brothers Market from 1946 until he retired in 1968. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, sons, George E. Misner, of Coleman, MI and Michael D. Misner, of Huntington Beach, CA; two grandchildren, Lance and Chad Misner and three great grandchildren, Maria, Macy, and Zachary Misner, and a brother, Carl Misner, of The Villages, FL. He was preceded in death by his brother, Don and sisters, Mildred L. McCarty and Beatrice Bramble. Pete was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and woodworking. Pete was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed watching all sports on TV. Pete and Dorothy spent many winters in Florida.
Family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm Sunday September 16, 2012 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 am Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastor Bruce R. Kintigh officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church, National Stroke Association, or charity of one’s choice.
