Harold Rathmann, Jr.

Harold E.  “Hal” Rathmann, Jr., Age 81, Of Battle Creek, MI, Passed away peacefully on August 6, 2017, at home.  Hal was born in Battle Creek, MI, on December 15, 1935. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1953 and was a member of the 1953 State Champion football team. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and was activated in October of 1954. He had assignments in the Pacific on Okinawa and Hawaii. He worked numerous truck driving jobs in California after leaving the service then moved back to Battle Creek in April of 1969. He worked at Clark Equipment as a over the road truck driver and then drove for Yellow Freight accumulating over 2.5 million accident free miles. He retired in 1999. He is survived by his wife Karen Weeks Rathmann; a brother, Howard V. Rathmann and a son, Douglas Rathmann of Tampa, FL. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Harold and Ruth Rathmann and a sister, Marilyn Gable. A private graveside service will be held.
