Harold V. Miller, 87 of Battle Creek, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Evergreen Senior Care and Rehab Center. He was born August 3, 1923 in Corso, Missouri the son of John Herman and Hazel Mary (Parks) Miller. Harold served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952. He worked at Post Cereal from 1952 to 1956, and then moved to California where he worked for Hughes Aircraft and Knudsen Creamery, retiring in 1979 and then returned to Battle Creek. Harold enjoyed fishing and any outdoor activity. On September 27, 1952 he was married to Sophronia Rosalie (Carpenter) and she preceded him in death on February 20, 2009. He was also preceded by five brothers: Edward, Herman, Ira, Benjamin and Robert Miller; nephew, Dwaine Miller and niece, Carol Zeiss. Surviving are two daughters: Linda (John) Sullivan of Dayton, OH and Janet (Terry) Thorington of Los Angeles, CA; three grandchildren: Alex, Kylie and Max; brother, Richard (Gladys) Miller of Dawsonville, GA; special friends, Tammy and Scott Ferguson; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with interment to follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice.
