Harlan N. DeMott, age 69, of Springfield, MI., passed away on February 20, 2022 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born on November 28, 1952 in Battle Creek, the son of Alvin and Doreen (Hulce) DeMott. Harlan was a lifelong area resident. He attended Springfield Schools and graduated from Delton High School in 1971. Harlan proudly served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1974. He was previously employed as a meat cutter for Schuler’s Restaurant in Marshall, then continued to work as a meat cutter for Burdick Packaging in Battle Creek for 28 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #299 in Battle Creek. Harlan was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed playing golf, bowling and spending time with his family. Harlan was united in marriage on January 24, 1976 in Bedford, MI. to Sandra Bailey, she survives. Also surviving are his son; Justin (Heather) DeMott of Richland, MI., sister; Collette (Jim) John of Climax, MI., brother; Yancy (Kathy) DeMott of Vicksburg, MI., grandchildren; Julian and Cora DeMott and Aiden and Jayden Walker. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, son; Jason DeMott and grandparents; Mr. & Mrs. Clayton Hulce. Memorial service scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor Steve Olmstead of Pleasantview Family Church Officiating. Inurnment with military honors will take place following the service at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Harlan’s memory to American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
