Gregory C. Waschak, age 61, of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017. He was born January 2, 1956 in Clearwater, Florida the son of John and Helen (Chicarella) Waschak. Greg was a graduate of Clearwater High School where he was an All-State member of the football team, and went on to attend St. Petersburg Community College. He was a phlebotomist working in the lab at Oaklawn Hospital for over 15 years and prior to that had worked at Regional Medical Lab. Greg loved to play golf and was a member of Oakland Hills Golf Club where he spent over 30 years with his golf “Brother” and league partner Roy Perkins. Greg loved all Florida Gator athletics. On May 29, 1984 he was married to Tanya E. (Geleff) at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Battle Creek, who survives. Also surviving is his son Gregory Nicholas Waschak and his fiancé Paige Pratscher of East Lansing; daughter Megan Ann Waschak of Battle Creek; granddaughter Ayrianna Renee Waschak; two sisters: Debra (Jerry) Cobb of Clearwater, Florida and Joyce Benavides of Key West, Florida; and nephew John Jaime Benavides of Naples, Florida. A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Greg’s life will be held Saturday July 15, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Oakland Hills Golf Club, 11619 H Drive North, Battle Creek, MI.
