Greg Abbey, age 72, passed away on September 22, 2024. He had been residing at Bickford House in the memory care wing.  Greg was born on January 15, 1952, he was the oldest son of Thomas Abbey and Marguerite (Hall) Abbey.  Greg graduated in 1970 from Battle Creek Central High School. While there, he was a member of the debate team and excelled on the Varsity baseball team.  

After graduation, Greg was employed at the Kellogg manufacturing company for 10 years. In 1980, Greg moved to Texas, it was there that he learned the craft of hanging wallpaper professionally. Greg returned to Battle Creek in 1985 and started his own wallpaper company called; Up Against the Wall. Greg’s work included many historical homes and businesses. His final 5 years of employment was at FireKeepers Casino in the security and maintenance departments. 

In his young adult years, Greg loved to play softball and hang out with the guys. He had an extensive music collection and loved going to live concerts. Later in his life, he enjoyed golf, bowling and trips to various casinos. Greg also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas during March Madness and going to see the Detroit Tigers and the Pistons play. 

Greg was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his two sons, Shaun (Wendy) Abbey of Byron Center, Mi, Graham (Lisa) Abbey of Battle Creek, granddaughters: Ellen Abbey-Johnson (Jacob), Emma, Mia, Paige, and Kamryn. His brother, Ron (Debbie) Abbey and the mother of his sons, Michele Yarger.
