D. Grace Taylor, age 98, of Battle Creek, passed away on July 6, 2020 at Brookdale Assisted Living. She was born on June 5, 1922 in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Hall) Akers. Grace was united in marriage to Bernard Taylor in 1945 and took up residence in Battle Creek. She and her husband became snowbirds around 1980, wintering in Florida. Bernard preceded her in death on March 14, 2012, just short of celebrating their 67 th wedding anniversary. Also preceding her in death were her parents and five brothers. Grace was employed by the Kellogg Company from 1945 to 1952, Community Hospital from 1953 to 1956 then as a medical secretary for Doctors Finch, Morrison, McCuaig, Young and Leitch. She and Bernard were founding members of Westlake Presbyterian Church where both were active members and Grace served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Surviving are her children; David (Susan) Taylor of Battle Creek; Steven J. Taylor of Douglas, Michigan; and Cynthia A. (Greg) VanDusen of Bradenton, Florida; sister, Merle Betz of California; grandchildren; Taylor (Jamie) VanDusen of Xenia, Ohio; Ryan VanDusen of Chicago, Illinois; Collin Taylor of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and two great grandsons, Alex and Zachary VanDusen. Private Funeral Services will be held at Westlake Presbyterian Church, followed by entombment at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
