Grace Gilroy

Grace J. (Ash) Gilroy, age 91, of Battle Creek passed away in the early hours of Saturday, February 18, 2023 in her home surrounded by family.

Grace was born on September 16, 1931 in Texas, the daughter of Jacob and Bina (Sprau) Ash. On November 18, 1949, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Rev. Willard G. Gilroy, who preceded her in death. Their 57 year journey together carried them to Canada and throughout West Michigan. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church. Her unwavering faith was the bedrock of all she did, knowing the Will of God would never take her where the Grace of God could not keep her.

Grace loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed reading her bible, crafting, cooking, baking, singing, and playing the piano.

Surviving are her children, Stephen (Harry) Gilroy of Battle Creek, Joann (Jack, Jr.) Germinder of Battle Creek, Bernice (Vipin) Singh of Battle Creek, Timothy (Leigh) Gilroy of Crandall, IN and Paul Gilroy of Battle Creek; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 20, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services.  Funeral Service scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.  Memories and condolences may be left for the family at www.henryfuneralhome.org
