Gertrude Parkins

Gertrude (Trudy) Parkins, of Bickford Cottages in Battle Creek, Michigan, passed peacefully on Saturday, December 12, 2020. It was her 94 ^th birthday.  Trudy was born in Port Huron, Michigan, but resided most of her life in Battle Creek. She was united in marriage to Ross A. Parkins on May 16, 1954. Trudy and Ross were both Kellogg Company retirees, and spent many happy years traveling and as Florida snowbirds following their retirement.  He preceded her in death in 2007.

Also preceding her in death were parents, William and Lizzie Dupree, brother, Frank Dupree, and sister, Dorothy Stebleton.  Surviving are daughters, Sandra Parkins, of Loveland, CO, and Diana Buck, of Battle Creek, MI, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is brother, William (Cindy) Dupree, of Irons, MI, and sister, Carol (Alan) Munro, of Hastings, MI, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Memorial Park in the spring for both Trudy and Ross, as per their request.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
