Gertrude Green

Gertrude Carrie “Gert” Green, Age 91, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at her home. Gertrude was born on July 31, 1923, in Bedford Twp., Calhoun County, MI, the daughter of Herbert C. and Hazel J. (Colles) Green. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1941. On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Stanley R. Green who preceded her in death after 66 years of marriage. Gertrude worked at American Marsh Pump and at Sears. She and her husband Stanley attended Battle Creek Friends Church. Gertrude loved reading, crocheting, camping, all crafts, ceramics, bowling and eating out. She was a member of the Battle Creek Health System Auxiliary-Mercy Pavilion Guild. Surviving are sons, Gary (Jackie) Green of Battle Creek and Gilbert (Jean) Green of Wilmington, NC; 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Marguerite Lewis, Gladys Clark and Martha Clark. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 7, 2014, at the funeral home with Kelly Hadlich of Battle Creek Friends Church officiating.
