Gerald "Jerry" Beadle

Gerald  W. “Jerry”  Beadle, Age 78, Of Battle Creek, Died Tuesday, December 25, 2012, surrounded by his family in Battle Creek. Jerry was born on August 26, 1934, in Battle Creek, the son of Watson G. and Alta M. (DeVine) Beadle. He had been a lifelong resident graduating from Battle Creek Central High School in 1952. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. On December 28, 1957 he was united in marriage to the former Sophia G. Metes who survives. He was employed at Kellogg’s as a warehouse supervisor until his retirement after 37 years of service. Jerry was a member of the Kellogg 25 year Club and the Kellogg Traffic Club. Jerry organized and enjoyed breakfast twice a year with warehouse retirees. He was an avid Michigan and Detroit Tiger fan and enjoyed going to games in Detroit and Lakeland, FL. He managed his sons Little League and managed and played on softball teams at Bailey Park for many years. He enjoyed family gatherings with his children and grandchildren and attended all their school activities. Jerry and his wife Sophia enjoyed traveling and recently went to Branson and New York City on a bus tour. He is survived by his children, Kathy Gardner, Kerri (Gary) Nephew and Ted G. Beadle; grandchildren, Ashley Gardner, Heather, Joshua and Sydney Nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Ron Gardner in 2008. Jerry was a good husband, father, son, grandfather and a good friend to all that knew him. He will be missed by all. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the funeral home with The Rev. Dr. James Gysel officiating. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to The Shriners Hospital or Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice.  www.henryfuneralhome.org
