Geraldine "Geri" Outman

Geraldine “Geri” (West) Outman, 93, died peacefully at home on Thursday, April 11th. She was born Anna Geraldine West on January 26, 1926 to Swedish immigrants, Alfred & Edla Marie West on Michigan Hill in Rochester, Washington.  She attended Rochester Schools before moving to at age 17 to Bremerton, Washington to work in the Navy shipyards. She received her honorary high school diploma at her 50th high school reunion in 1994.  In 1944, she moved to San Francisco where she met navy seaman Donald Eugene Outman. They were married there on January 3, 1945. They returned to Michigan following the end of World War II and were married for almost 48 years before Don’s death in 1992. Geri worked for many years in the health field for Dr. Winslow, Dr. Lancaster, and in Central Scheduling at Community Hospital.  She was a volunteer with the hospital auxiliary for over 30 years, serving twice as the organization’s president. She was a long-time member of Pennfield Presbyterian Church where she actively sang in the choir for nearly 50 years and played on the church softball team into her 60s. She was preceded in death by 4 older sisters and an older brother. She is survived by daughters Sharon Marie (John) Blatnik, Dawn Irene (Doug) Rollenhagen, son Thom, grandson Michael (Heidi), and granddaughter Jenn (Brad) and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2019, at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
