Geraldine Mullen

March 22, 1929 — June 24, 2020

Geraldine E. “Gerry” Mullen, age 91, of Battle Creek, took her final journey with our Lord on this Earth to join her loved ones on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Geraldine “Gerry” Mercier Mullen, the second child born to Edmond and Irene (Rochefort) Mercier on March 22, 1929 at home on the Garden Peninsula. Gerry attended the Puffy Creek one room school and received her GED from Manistique High School. She would also complete her Nurses Aide training a few years later. Choosing to be a stay at home wife and mother to her four children. She was very active in their lives. Helping any way possible. At church, 4-H, sports, cooking, sewing, bowling and camping. With much love and advice, she would raise her children proudly. Gerry met the love of her life, Fred Mullen in 1946 and they celebrated 61 wonderful years together. They traveled across the Upper Peninsula camping in the Summer and Wintering in Arizona and Florida on three different occasions. Gerry enjoyed being with family and friends, a good cup of coffee and lots of stories about “Good Old Times”. In 1982 Fred and Gerry retired from Marshall to their home in Puffy Creek on the Garden Peninsula where they enjoyed another 30 years of life. In 2009 Gerry was inducted into the Garden Historical Society with great pride. Then shortly after Fred’s passing, she moved near her children. Surviving are her children, Tom Mullen, Carol (David) Walbeck and Patricia (Gary) Heidrich; step-child, Rosalie Miller; 6 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 step-great grandson and 1 great great grandchild; sisters, Marlene DeRousha and Charlene Thormosguard; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a son, Fred Mullen; daughter-in-law, Linda Mullen; 2 sisters; 3 brothers; step-children, Michael Mullen and Judi Spencer. A private service will be held at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Interment will be at Sac Bay Cemetery, Fairbanks, Township, MI. www.henryfuneralhome.org
