Geraldine L. Gordon, age 89, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at her residence with her loving family at her side. She was born December 19, 1927 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Arnold and Beatrice (Hoisington) Voss. She married her first husband Junior R. Morey in February of 1946 and he preceded her in death. Geraldine later married Bernard A. Gordon on July 2, 1976 and they were married 22 years prior to his death. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter Diane Louise Morey; brother Lyle Voss; two sisters: Donna Olds and Gloria Spencer and step daughter in law Cindy Gordon. Geraldine is survived by seven children: Thomas Morey and Michael Morey both of Battle Creek, Barbara (Butch) Weeks of Union City, Julie (Fred) Dearman of Coldwater, David (Marion) Morey of Battle Creek, Lori (Ken) Horn of Battle Creek and Sandra (Dennis) Miller of Charlotte; four step-children: Judy (Steve) Grube of Little Rock, Arkansas, Dennis Gordon of Olivet, Jeannie (Saad) Benfaida of Marrakesh, Morocco and Janice (Joseph) Walowich of Wyandotte; sister: Constance Britten of Athens; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed spending time with her family in their many activities and going to all the family outings. GG also enjoyed working in her flower beds, doing yard work, gardening and canning, as well as all arts and crafts. She was a member of Athens V.F.W. Post 5319 Ladies Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. She worked at Bell Telephone as a switch board operator, Kellogg’s, Research Molding and most recently at Airways in Olivet from which she retired. Following retirement, she and her husband Bernard spent winters in Florida and eventually moved to Riverview, Florida. She moved back to the area following her husband’s death to care for her mother. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. Benjamin Horn officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Great Lakes Caring Hospice or Athens V.F.W.
