Gerald Mulchay

Gerald Michael Mulchay, 77, a beloved father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on January 24, 2025, at Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids. He was born on September 13, 1947, in Battle Creek, Michigan. Mike earned his high school diploma from Lakeview High School and embarked on a career as a truck driver, a profession that allowed him to travel and explore many parts of the country he enjoyed. Beyond his professional life, Mike had a passion for travel, with a particular affection for the western United States. He was also an avid supporter of local sports, regularly attending games for the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and Michigan State University. Retirement brought Mike a new opportunity to contribute to his community, and he devoted much of his time to volunteer work at Lee Health Memorial Hospital and with the American Red Cross. His commitment to helping others reflected his desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. Family was central to Mike's life. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, Benjamin and Katherine Mulchay, eagerly attending their numerous activities and fostering strong familial bonds. His brother, Jeremiah (Pat) Mulchay, Son; Sean Mulchay, Nephews; Patrick Mulchay, Kevin DeRushia, Kurtis DeRushia, Michael Harris, and Niece, Chris Davison, are left to carry on his legacy of care and commitment to family. Mike is predeceased by his father, Gerald Mulchay Sr.; his mother, Eileen (Peterson) Mulchay; his sister, Mary Jacqueline (Mulchay) Beckwith; and his daughter, Erin Mulchay. The visitation will take place on January 31, 2025, at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home in Battle Creek from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at the same location from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Mike Mulchay will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him as a kind-hearted individual. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life. Memorials may be made to American Red Cross.
