Gerald Drake

Gerald “Jerry” Drake, age 74, of East Leroy, Michigan passed away Tuesday March 15, 2016 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born September 9, 1941 in Jackson, Michigan the son of LeRoy Ernest and Dorothy Marie (Kemmis) Drake. Jerry attended Harper Creek Schools and worked at HB Sherman’s, Drake’s Auction Barn, Quad L Corporation and retired from Drake’s Sanitation. He loved horses and was a member of the Climax Country Riders and Sunset Trail Riders; he also loved to camp and travel on his Goldwing, and was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders. On July 28, 1967 Jerry was married to Shirley M. (Conant), who survives. Also surviving is his sister: Sandra (Ron) Jones of Battle Creek; brother-in-law: Don Conant of Lowell; two nieces: Kelly (Scot) Lenz of Battle Creek and Stacy (Dave) Rooney of Iowa; three nephews: Kurt (Rosa) Jones of North Carolina, Jeff (Jessica) Williamson of Iowa and Jason (Clare) Conant of Grand Rapids, and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Jacqueline Williamson. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Funeral Home with interment to follow at Mather-Voyce Cemetery.
