Georgia Engel

Georgia L. Engel, age 93, of Battle Creek, passed away on March 21, 2019.  She was born on July 3, 1925 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Harold L. and Mildred D. (Austin) Sharpsteen.  Georgia was previously employed at Leila Hospital as an Emergency Room Registration Clerk before retiring in 1984.  She was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church, and enjoyed shopping, decorating and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was united in marriage in August 1947 to Max Engel, he preceded her in death in 1994.  Also preceding her in death are her parents; Harold and Mildred Sharpsteen, sister; Sally Brandt, brothers; Robert and Richard Sharpsteen.  Surviving are her children; Eileen (Douglas) Martens of Battle Creek, Jon (Cathy) Engel of East Leroy, brother; Gordon Sharpsteen of Sarasota, Fl., five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.  Private services have taken place, with interment at Beckley Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice Care of SW Michigan.  Condolences for the family may be left at www.henryfuneralhome.org
