George Shump

George “Tim” Shump, age 62, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 at his home. He was born July 1, 1952 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Frank Michael and Mattie Ruth (Caldwell) Shump. Tim was a 1970 graduate of Springfield High School and soon after began working at General Motors from which he retired in 2007. He loved music, enjoyed playing the guitar and was a member of the Drifters Car Club. Tim loved the Lord and was a member of Battle Creek Bible Church. A volunteer with The First Tee of Battle Creek, Tim was an avid golfer and had two holes in one. Surviving is his step-mother: Edythe Shump; three sisters: Rose Shump, Cindie (Vince) Peckens and Julie Ann Hanson; one brother: Frank M. (Jill) Shump II; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Battle Creek Bible Church with Rev. Larry T. Messer officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
