George A. Schroeder, 75, of Battle Creek passed away Monday October 10, 2011 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born on September 28, 1936 in Springfield to John and Inez (Reynolds) Schroeder. George worked as butcher in his parent’s grocery store, Jack’s Market, while going to school in Springfield and then Lakeview Schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. George married Yovanne J. Fales on March 15, 1959 in Battle Creek. He was employed by Michigan Carton and then General Motors in Kalamazoo for 27 years retiring in 1991. George is survived by his wife, Yovanne, a son, Steven A. Schroeder, a daughter, Deborah A. (Terry) Fisher, four grandchildren, Ben and Jimmy Schroeder, and Nicole and Alisha Fisher, all of Battle Creek, a brother, William (Annie) Schroeder, of Bella Vista, FL and a sister, Susan Hubly, of Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Schroeder. George enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, his HO train collection, and spending winters in Florida. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Family will receive friends from 5pm to 8pm Thursday October 13, 2011 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where services will be held 1pm Friday with Pastor Robert G. Muirhead officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society or American Lung Association of Michigan
