George Opala, 79, of Battle Creek passed away Thursday November 28, 2013 at Heartland Health Center. He was born on August 20, 1934 in Battle Creek to Dan and Marie (Drais) Opala.
George was united in marriage on January 5, 1989 to Marian D. Pearson, she preceded him in death on November 16, 2011. He was employed by Union Pump Company for 29 years until he retired in 1996. George is survived by a step-son, Steven (Linda) Brady, of Dowling, four step-grandchildren, four step- great grandchildren, and special friend, Linda Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Don Opala, John W. Young who died of Polio, Eli Opala, and Lewey Opala; sisters, Irene Russell, Mary VanVleet, Janet Rose, Lue Green, Amelia Taylor and Mildred Hammons.
Services will be held 1:00pm Monday December 2, 2013 at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice or Heartland Health Center.
