Genevieve Allen

October 30, 1923 — March 26, 2017

Genevieve Allen age 93, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017.  She was born on October 30, 1923 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Josef and Sophia (Lachowicz) Juzwiak.  She was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School.  Genevieve was united in marriage in 1944 to Clifford C. Sylvester for twenty four years; he preceded her in death in 1968, later she married Ed Allen, who also preceded her in death in 1996.  She was employed as a line worker for the Kellogg Company for thirty- two years, before retiring in 1981.  She was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Kellogg 25 Year Club, PNA Club, Marshall Moose Lodge, and volunteered at the Cheff Center and the Leila Auxiliary.  Genevieve enjoyed playing golf, knitting, baking and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; Josef and Sophia Juzwiak, sisters; Mary Stratton in 1997, and Stella Shann in 2000.  Surviving are her daughter; Teresa Suttles of Battle Creek, Granddaughter; Michelle (Tracy) Bell of Scotts, Michigan, Great Grandchildren; Sophia, Hunter and Mattison.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, with the reciting of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Fr. Jose’ Haro, Celebrant, with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jerome Catholic Church, Kindred Hospice Care, or the charity of one’s choice.  Condolences for the family may be left at www.henryfuneralhome.org
