Gary Hunter

Gary A. Hunter, age 74, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014. He was born May 27, 1940 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Steven and Margaret (Pierce) Gilkison. Gary was a 1958 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of American Legion Post 54 and loved to travel. Prior to his retirement, Gary worked as a millwright at Post Cereals for 37 ½ years and then worked at both Cedar Creek and Alwyn Downs Golf Courses. On June 24, 1961 he was married to Connie Lou (Mercer) who survives. Also surviving are two daughters: Kim Hunter and Shelly (Ray) Salyer; grandson: Neil Smith; brother: Rich Gilkison; sister-in-law: Christine Gilkison and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral home this evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with his niece, The Rev. Susan Morgan of Crosspoint Church officiating.
