Gail Roberts

Gail E. Roberts, Age 87, Of Battle Creek, Died Monday, February 4, 2013, in Battle Creek. Gail was born on January 31, 1926, in Battle Creek, the son of Henry and Thelma (Knight) Roberts. He had been a lifelong resident of the area. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 3rd Armored Division under General Patton. Gail owned and operated Dugan’s Top Shop from 1948 until his retirement in 2010. In April of 1947, he was united in marriage to the former Jacquelyn J. “Jackie” Rouse who preceded him in death in 2007. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, a member of the Riverside Country Club for 60 years and the founder of Lakeview Little League Baseball in 1956. Surviving are children, Gail L. Roberts-Martuge and Gary E. Roberts both of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Maria, Gina, Goviannia “Jenny” and Anthony M. Martuge; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Tom Roberts.
