G. Edward Blankenburg, Age 85, Of Battle Creek, Died June 5, 2015, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Edward was born on February 17, 1930, in Battle Creek, the son of Herman and Rose (Servance) Blankenburg. He had been a lifelong resident of the area graduating from Battle Creek Central in 1948. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1949 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was employed with Consumers Power for 42 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Battle Creek Elks Lodge #131 for 30 years, the American Legion and the Food Bank at church. He enjoyed baseball, golfing and bowling. Surviving are children, Steven E. (Kim) Blankenburg, Mary (Mike) Parson, Carl J. (Julie) Blankenburg and Karen (Jim) Seckler; Step-children, Cindy Wright, Rick Wright, Dan(Phyllis) Wright and Gary (Lori) Wright: his wife, Mary Wright; 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; a twin brother, Herman A. Blankenburg; Nieces, Janice Keller and Susan (Chris) Goins; a nephew, Michael (Nina) Blankenburg; a great niece, Sarah and a great nephew, Daniel. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Della, Catherine Blankenburg. Mary Elizabeth Huver and Ellen Rose Ainsworth. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Kjersten Priddy of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.www.henryfuneralhome.org
