Frederick Lynn Lloyd, age 83 of Battle Creek, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence surrounded by family. Fred “Ted” was born July 26, 1929 in Berwick Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1948 to 1952 and was involved in action at the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean conflict. In October of 1952 he was married to the former Gilda Savoca. Fred is survived by his wife of 60 years Gilda “Jill”; daughters: Antoinette Lau (David Vaughn) and Mary Lloyd; his precious grandson: Benjamin Lau; sister-in-law: Sandy Welsh; brother-in-law, Joe Savoca; many nieces and nephews back east; and special friends since childhood, Rolland May and Jack Canouse. He was preceded in death by sisters: Ruth Dodson, Faye Rarich, and Vera Smith. He retired from Battle Creek Federal Center in 1986 after 31 years of service. Fred enjoyed golf, woodworking, trips to PA, and breakfast with his buddies. He especially enjoyed 13 years with his beloved pet, Tess. Private graveside services will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.
