Frank Rice Jr.

Frank O. Rice Jr. , age 98, of Battle Creek passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Calhoun County Medical care Facility.    He was born February 10, 1921 in Reed City, Michigan to the late Frank O.  and Mary (Carver) Rice.  Frank served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 .  After the Army, he joined the National Guard  and served as a corporal leaving with honorable Discharge in 1951. Frank  was a member of the Pennfield Optimist Club, and the  Moose Trail Riders Snowmobile Club in Baldwin , Mi.  He also enjoyed fishing and any other activities that kept him outdoors. Frank retired from Consumer Power Company as a tree trimmer. He was a former member of Convis Union United Methodist Church.   Frank lived the last couple of years with his wife Betty at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility in Battle Creek.  Frank had 5 sons by his first wife. He is survived by his wife; Betty (May) Rice of Battle Creek, sons, Brian Rice,  Mark Rice, Scott Rice,  Steve Rice, five stepchildren and their spouses, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild . In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sons, James Rice and a step-son; Vaughn "Butch" Jones.  Cremation has taken place.  A committal service has been scheduled for 12:00 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  Pastor Andrea L.
