Frank J. Grumeretz, age 87, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at The Reflections. He was born February 1, 1929 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Anthony Joseph and Mary (Kosiara) Grumeretz. Frank was a graduate of St. Philip Catholic Central High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A member of the P.N.A. Club, he loved polka music and dancing. Frank was an active parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church and retired from the Kellogg Company where he was a fork lift operator for over 25 years. He was also a brick mason and built many homes in the area. One of eight children, Frank was the last of the Grumeretz kids, in his words “he was the last of the Mohicans.” He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Andrew, Anthony and John; four sisters: Helen, Sophie, Ann and Agnes; his first wife: Mary (Munn) and second wife: Shirley (Smith). Surviving are nine children: Jan (David) Weir, Brad Harper, Jerome Grumeretz, Angie (Earl) Adamson, Paul Grumeretz, George Grumeretz, Theresa (Kenny) Black, Frank (Kimberly) Grumeretz, Jr. and Tonya (Jeremy) Ryan; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2016 at St. Philip Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
