Florin F. “Frank” Syc DDS, Age 88, Of Battle Creek, Went home to be with the Lord after a heroic and lengthy battle with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s on Saturday April 12, 2014. Frank was born on February 5, 1926, in Bronson, Michigan, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Losinski) Syc. He had been a resident of the area since 1956. Frank was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On June 13, 1964, he was united in marriage to the former Judith L. “Judy” Nash who survives. Frank opened his dental practice in Battle Creek in 1956 until his retirement in 1992, in which 20 years was spent in partnership with Jerry Borsum DDS. Upon his retirement Frank volunteered at the Battle Creek Nursing Clinic and traveled to Honduras on a Medical Mercy Mission for St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, an avid skier and outdoorsman. Surviving are children, Aimee (Greg) Arbic, Emily Hoban, Maria (David) Carey and Polly (Joe) Syc-Vega; grandchildren, Joshua and Amanda Arbic, Elizabeth, Christian, Michael and Andrew Hoban, Brittany and Emma Carey, Alex, Veronica, Grace and Isabella Vega. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Veronica Gibson. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8:00 p.m., at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Very Rev. Mark J.
