Eugenia "Jean" Regas

Eugenia “Jean” Regas, Age 94, Of Battle Creek, Died Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Evergreen Senior Care and Rehab Center. Jean was born on June 15, 1922, in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of John and Nicolete (Kontogiannis) Georgacakes. She was raised in Grand Rapids and was a 1940 graduate of Grand Rapids High School. Jean was employed as a nurse’s assistant at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids and then worked for a local department store in the hosiery department until her marriage. After her marriage she moved to Battle Creek and has resided in her present home since 1949. Eugenia “Jean” Georgacakes married Gust Regas at Trinity Church in Grand Rapids, MI, on January 28, 1945; he preceded her in death in 2011. Jean actively attended the Springfield Assembly of God since 1985. She enjoyed taking her dog “Kukla” on long walks, gardening and being with her family. Surviving is a son, John Regas of Battle Creek; a daughter, Linda (Pete) Zeithammel of Galesburg; daughter-in-law, Laura Regas of Richland; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas Regas on April 23, 2015; brothers, Dean and Peter Georgacakes; a sister, Sophia. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 2, 2017, at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to The Humane Society of South Central MI. www.henryfuneralhome.org
